Module AA M03 Professional Development Project 1
SSW/Ganghut Collaboration
Project Aim
This collaborative group project will bring together students and selected external clients in a project based on a ‘real life’ scenario. Students will be expected to work together on the project for the semester, producing research, ideas, concepts and a final proposed outcome.
In collaboration with the Scottish Sculpture Workshop (SSW) in Lumsden, Aberdeenshire and artist group Ganghut we have arranged a project to be addressed and developed for this context over this semester.
The project involves the use of the Ganghut space that is based at Lumsden (please see info on SSW and Ganghut), this will be the location for our collaboration project.
Brief
Working in groups you are required to consider the space, location, and context through the nature of collaboration to realise an event, display, or performance for the Ganghut space culminating on its presentation in December.
The subject and format of your output can be determined by the group, with consultation from tutors, SSW and Ganghut, Your research of the area, context, community etc should enable you to determine a focus for your project and therefore use the space to highlight particular ambitions, issues and needs.
Use methods of research to consider previous and current forms of artist, designer, architect, community/society collaboration, and develop a creative and innovative project output. In developing your output consider your group skills, means of production, interests and motivations. Please also archive the work produced to show the research and development of the project.
You are required to work as a group but as the project develops you will need to account for and show your own development within the group.
We will meet Hilary Nicol, Director of SSW and Steve Murray, lead artist for Ganghut to discuss the project and possibilities with them.
